Burlington Downtown Refugee Alliance has been created by a group of churches, community organizations and citizens from Burlington Ontario.
Founded in 2015, the BDRA is now sponsoring its second family of refugees from the war in Syria to settle in Burlington, reuniting children and grandchildren who were separated from our first family in 2015.
Our work is ensuring these families make a smooth and successful transition to living and working in Canada. The adults, teenagers and young children who of the two families we have sponsored previously lived for many years without access to education, healthcare, employment opportunities or support after they were driven from their homes by war. They are now able to enjoy their new lives and the opportunities for growth and happiness that life in Canada offers.
The partners in the alliance include
- St Luke’s Anglican Church
- Knox Presbyterian Church
- City Hall Staff
- Cedar Springs Community
- Independent citizens and businesses who live and work in Burlington who want to help welcome refugees to Canada.
